I am directed by Mr. Secretary Creech Jones to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 30th November, 1948 regarding claims by certain firms in Hong Kong in respect of contracts for supplies entered into prior to the outbreak of war with Japan, and to express regret that no reply has previously been sent to that letter. The matter is being pursued with other Departments of His Majesty's Government which are concerned and a further letter will be addressed to you on the matter as soon as possible.
